Next week the lower GCSE group will be finishing their work with angles. The work will focus on applying the rules they have developed to calculating interior and exterior angles in longer, problem solving scenarios. They will also be moving on to look at area and perimeter of shapes.
The higher GCSE groups will be looking at loci and constructions, used in computer programming to chart moving objects and in art or construction to construct accurate shapes. They will also be looking at bearings, applying the work they’ve done with angles to plot certain key points and measure direction from one point to another.
The functional skills groups will be continuing focus on area and perimeter tasks with regard to longer, problem solving type questions using compound shapes, as well as applying these skills to calculating volume and combining this with other topics such as looking at costs to decorate a given area or time to fill a given volume.
